KBUX Radio 94.3 FM Community Blog

Quartzsite_85346

KBUX Radio 94.3 FM is centrally located in one of the most unique cities in the United States… Quartzsite, AZ.

As such, things do not occur the same way as in most other American towns… or, maybe they do and we just don’t recognize them for what they are. Anyway, the bottom line is that not everyone get’s along and there are disagreements, events, and other occurrences that tend to ride the rumor mill in the local area. We at KBUX radio do our very best to remain neutral on these matters. Of course we have principles and opinions, but we like to be a place where nearly everyone can feel comfortable. This Blog post forum is our way of reaching out on the web and sharing new changes, events, or announcements about the station and our service to you. We also want the Blog to be a place where the entire local community can visit and share their principles and opinions (nicely of course), so that the good, the bad, and the ugly in our town can be better understood and, well, our hope is that through our Blog we can help positively move Quartzsite and the surrounding areas forward as we change and grow with the passing of time.

We welcome your comments and look forward to reaching out to ya’all often… enjoy the music over the broadcast and share your heart online.

I enjoy listening rather quickly as I drive throu Quartzsite, tuning my radio to 94.3 several miles out and listening until I loose the station on the other side of town.

Your Comments: I first heard KBUX Radio about 20 minutes before I arrived in Quartzsite travelling west on I-10 in June of 1990. The station was @ 94.3 mhz and was owned by Maude & Buck Burdette. They ran a 100 watt transmitter into a 3 db gain (approx) antenna and were located in the Burdett’s house. Maude was nice enough to give us a tour of the station. Quartzsite only had about 900 habitants back then. The station transmitted from 06:00 till 22:00 7 days a week. Saturday night they had local talent filling in and one day a week had a program in Navajo language. I spent 3 years in the area working in a jet engine test stand 10 miles north on Rt-95 and have many precious memories of the area. I think the old test site is an auto bone yard now.

As we are in Brenda during the winter we heard a song we could not identify . .I suspect it may have been a local artist but ……who did the song that has the words “highway 60 Brenda and Salome ” it has a country flair to it and just catchy enough to find and purchase it .
Thanks All
